Thoughts on "Self-Care"
It's interesting how popular the concept of self-care has become recently--as if it were a totally novel idea. People everywhere are telling us that we need it and that we're not getting enough of it. And while the overall state of our health is probably exponentially better than that of our ancestors, the pressure of taking good care of ourselves can sometimes feel unsurmountable, especially when we compare ourselves to others. So instead of offering a list of good-health habits to up your self-care regimen, this post is dedicated to all of the things that you already do each day to take care of your body, mind, and spirit. From the moment that you wake up and get ready for the day to the time that you lay down for a night of restful sleep, you are practicing self-care, and while self-care looks different for everyone, only you can measure your well-being.
